GLENVILLE, WV - Glenville State College's Bluegrass Program will host the first of five planned youth bluegrass day camps beginning this week, Saturday, June 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Bill Monroe's Bean Blossom Festival in Bean Blossom, Indiana. The camp is designed for students 6-18 years old who are interested in learning the great American tradition of bluegrass music and is open to all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).

Campers will learn not only how to play the music, but also the history of the music, vocals and harmonies, instrument care, stage presence, jamming etiquette, and more. The Bean Blossom day camp will conclude with campers being featured on the workshop stage at 6:00 p.m. Admission to the camp is $30.00 per student, which includes the admission of one adult.

On Sunday, June 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. festival attendees will have the opportunity to try three different coffee blends, free of charge, and help select the new GSC Bluegrass Coffee Blend crafted by Aroma of the Andes Specialty Coffee (located in Linn, West Virginia). The sampling booth will be set up in the 'entrance island' just inside the main entrance to the campground. The company is owned and operated by the Brown Family and one of the owners, Justin Brown, 12 partnered with GSC earlier this year to help create the Signature Pioneer Blend. Their coffee farm, Finca La Despensa, is located in the Andes Mountains of Columbia, South America outside the small town of Supatá. There they grow 6,500 environmentally friendly coffee trees that are shade grown and then the beans are handpicked and sun dried.

"We are excited to share this new and unique coffee blend with the world! We are striving to create something to sip on as we travel from one gig to the next, and we know there are plenty of bluegrassers who love their coffee! Late night jams, gigs, recording sessions, and early morning church services - who doesn't enjoy a good cup of coffee? Our bluegrass family, friends, and fans are invited to help vote on the best blend to represent the bluegrass music culture," said GSC Director of Bluegrass Music Dr. Megan Darby.

"Aroma of the Andes Coffee is excited to partner with the Glenville State College Bluegrass Band! These awesome musicians and their supporters will now have a special coffee roasted specifically for them! Drink up and pick hard," said co-owner Duane Brown.
