Dr. Benton's recital, originally planned for January 15th, has been canceled due to
inclement weather. The recital will be rescheduled at a later date.
Glenville, WV â The Glenville State College Fine Arts Department will present a free faculty recital featuring the talents of Assistant Music Professor Carol Benton. âAn Evening of Songâ will consist of five sets of three songs each featuring the music of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and more. âThe first will be solos from sacred masterworks (oratorios or masses) of great composers. The second section will be recitatives and arias from operas. The third section will consist of German leider (songs) of the 19th century,â said Benton, âThe fourth section will consist of three songs from the French impressionist period, all composed by Claude Debussy. The fifth and final section will consist of songs from American musical theatre of the 1930's. These final songs were composed by George and Ira Gershwin.â The recital will take place on Tuesday, January 15th at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
