Glenville, WV – Members of the Glenville State College Early Education Student Group (EESG) attended the annual southern Early Childhood Association Conference in Orlando, Florida from February 27 – March 2. The students were able to participate in several valuable workshop sessions on early education topics and join in networking sessions with others in the field of early education.

GSC’s Early Education Student Group was recognized as one of the official college groups attending the conference and, under the guidance of the co-advisors Connie Stout O’Dell and Shelly Ratliff, the students presented a successful workshop titled Encouraging Young Children’s Curiosity through Exploration and Discovery Activities. The workshop session focused on activities to enhance cognitive skills in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms while focusing on children’s literature and encouraging exploration and discovery. Activities presented were hands on and interactive with a focus on STEM and STEAM connections.

EESG thanks all those who supported their fundraising efforts to make the conference trip possible, including the SECA Matching Student Funds Grant. EESG is recognized as an active student group in the West Virginia Association for Young Children and also thanks them for their continued support.
