Criminal Justice Students London Bound

Five Glenville State College students have been presented with a great opportunity to study in England this summer, but they need your help to make their dream a reality. These senior criminal justice majors have been selected to participate in a study abroad program in London July 7-21, 2007.

GSC Criminal Justice Professor, Dr. Karen Miller, said, “Students Chelsey Street, James Caudill, Joan Powers, Rebecca Conrad, and Sarah Wright will attend class at King’s College with students from Fairmont State and from Southern Mississippi University. They will study comparative criminal justice and the psychology of crime.”

Miller says the costs of the program are $3,800 per student with an additional $2,000 to $3,000 needed for spending money. A Federal Grant awarded to the GSC Criminal Justice Program will cover $2,000 per student. Additional funds, however, are still needed.

Miller says the students are raising money for this wonderful opportunity. Miller said, “In addition to various campus activities, a yard sale will be held on May 5 in the Glenville Foodland parking lot. Hot dogs, sodas and baked goods will also be sold. The students ask you to support their fundraising efforts.” Cash donations are also accepted and can be mailed to: GSC CRJ Study abroad program: Attention: Dr. Karen Miller, Department of Social Sciences, Glenville State College, 200 High Street, Glenville, WV 26351.
