GLENVILLE, WV â Art students, parents, alumni, and educators are invited to Glenville State College on Saturday, December 5 for Art Day. The annual event highlights the exciting degree programs in Studio Art and Graphics and Digital Media at GSC. The day will provide visitors with the opportunity to work directly with GSC faculty and current art students for a day of workshops supported by the art faculty. Future students are welcome to bring their own artwork for a professional review and scholarship consideration. Admissions staff will also be on hand for tours, answering questions, and taking applications.
"The Art Program at Glenville State College is the most creative environment I have ever seen in a school, emphasizing free thinking and creative problem solving. Art Day will be an exciting experience for young prospective art students to interact with active art students," said GSC Assistant Professor of Art John Selburg.
The Glenville State College Art programs have access to the largest art gallery in central West Virginia in the Fine Arts Center. Additionally, the art studios have excellent work spaces and the ceramic studio is equipped with a new kiln for firing both ceramic and sculpture projects. Students in the graphics and digital media program learn on industry-standard software and can produce projects on a 3-D printer. Photography classes have a high-end Epson large format professional printer available to them for learning printing, proofing, and color reproduction techniques. Students in GSC's art programs can expect an immersive educational experience that includes history, techniques, and hands-on application.
Activities begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Fine Arts Center on campus. A free lunch will be provided for Art Day attendees at Mollohan's Restaurant on campus courtesy of the Fine Arts Department.
