Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State College has announced the six newest members of the Curtis Elam Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2020 will officially enter the Hall of Fame at a date to be determined due to COVID-19.

The inductees include: Larry Gandee '62, Jim Carter '74, Mark Reger '74, Lloyd Willis '87, Andy Jarrell '89, and Monique Johnson '90.

Gandee was a three-year starter who scored over 1,000 career points in basketball. He later coached at Gwynn Park High School where, as head coach, he tallied a record of 237-74 and led the program to eight state title games, winning six of the eight.

Carter was a First Team All-WVIAC selection, was a running back on GSC's 1973 National Runner-Up Team, and ran for a school record 949 yards in 1973.

Reger played defensive tackle for the Pioneers in the early 1970's, was a member of GSC's 1973 National Runner-Up Team, and was a First Team All-WVIAC selection in 1973. He went on to a distinguished coaching career after GSC.

Willis was a four-year starter for the Pioneer Track Team, was a member of the Track & Field WVIAC Title Teams Track & Field in 1984 and 1986, and was a three-year champion in both the long jump and triple jump. He went to Nationals three times (twice outdoor and once indoor) and finished tenth in 1986 at Nationals.

Jarrell was an All-Conference performer who ran on championship teams at GSC (three in Track and three in Cross Country). He competed three times at Nationals in Cross Country and was the High Point man at the WVIAC Championship in 1986. He also made Nationals twice in the steeplechase and has the second fastest time in school history in the steeplechase, 5,000, and 10,000.

Johnson was a three-time All-WVIAC First Team selection, scored 1,731 points in her career and ranks fourth All-Time at GSC. She pulled down 684 Rebounds in her career (ranks 17th All-Time at GSC), dished out 271 Assists in her career (ranks 18th All-Time at GSC), and had 152 Steals in her career (ranks 24th All-Time at GSC). She won a league title in 1989, the first in school history.

GSC's Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 2001 through the generosity of the late Curtis Elam, a 1949 graduate.
